Total aflatoxins (AFT) generally refer to the sum of aflatoxins B1, B2, G1, and G2. As potent carcinogens threatening food safety and public health, their prevention and control must span the entire “farm-to-table” chain. The International Agency for Research on Cancer classifies aflatoxins as Group 1 carcinogens. Long-term exposure to low-dose aflatoxins is a major risk factor for liver cancer and is also associated with immunosuppression, growth retardation, and teratogenic effects.
Aflatoxin B1 is widely distributed, primarily found in grains, oilseed crops and their processed products, fruits and vegetables, dried fruits, condiments, tea, tobacco, traditional Chinese medicines, dairy products, and fermented foods. Testing a single sample typically takes 25 minutes.
