The Soil Water Quality Oxidation-Reduction Potential Meter (ORP Meter) is primarily used for on-site, in-situ testing of the oxidation-reduction potential of fresh or moist soil, as well as for measuring data such as water (medium) oxidation-reduction potential, pH, and temperature. It complies with the standard “HJ746-2015 Determination of Soil Oxidation-Reduction Potential by Potentiometric Method.”
Soil redox potential (ORP/Eh) has been widely used as a comprehensive indicator of soil environmental conditions for a long time. It represents the relative degree of oxidizing or reducing properties of the medium and has a significant impact on soil chemical and biological processes, making it an important parameter for understanding soil properties and processes. The higher the redox potential, the stronger the oxidizing property; the lower the redox potential, the stronger the reducing property. A positive potential indicates that the solution exhibits a certain degree of oxidizing properties, while a negative potential indicates that the solution exhibits a certain degree of reducing properties.
Water quality oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) is one of the most important water quality indicators. Although it cannot independently indicate the quality of water, it can be used in conjunction with other water quality indicators to reflect the ecological environment of aquatic systems.
Applications include:
1. Industrial wastewater treatment: Used in oxidation-reduction systems for water treatment, primarily for the reduction of chromate and the oxidation of cyanide.
2. Water disinfection and application: ORP can assess the disinfection effectiveness of swimming pool water, mineral water, and tap water. Since the bactericidal efficiency of E. coli in water is related to ORP, it serves as a reliable indicator of water quality.
3. Aquaculture Industry: ORP reflects the concentration of certain inorganic substances in water, the status of aquatic organisms, and oxygen content in water, indicating the macro-level redox properties of water quality. It serves as a comprehensive indicator for assessing water quality conditions.
